#SpringFlingKidLit 2021 Contest

Mama Nature’s Party

by Abby N. Wooldridge

Mama throws a party when winter’s finally done.

She welcomes this new season wrapped in golden sun.

She sets out decorations: flowers by the trees.

Oh, their sweet aroma is wafting through the breeze.

Neighbors are invited; they’re happy to attend.

They can’t wait to visit and catch up with their friends.

Birds provide the music; the bees all buzz along--

pleasant conversation in tune with springtime’s song.

Butterflies are flying, and bunnies hop around.

The air is full of peace, and joy and hope abound.

All the pals are loving this picnic in the park--

happy to be feasting until the sky turns dark.

Mama calls my name now, and I float in so cool...

“Snow?!” guests shout. And Mama laughs. Happy April Fool’s!

This is my 125 word entry for this year's Spring Fling KidLit contest, and here is where I found my gif. I spent a few weeks trying to figure out what to write about until I narrowed in on the concept of Mother Nature playing a prank on us all. Then I woke up this morning on April Fool's Day to find snow falling from the sky! Pretty perfect if you ask me! 🙂
