Hey Writers!
What are your goals for the year? Here are some of my highlights from the first month of 2020:
- Registered for Story Storm (Many thanks to Tara Lazar for organizing!)
- Read every Story Storm blog post--so many great resources!
- Wrote down about 49 new story ideas
- Wrote three new picture book drafts
- Worked on revisions for two projects
- Signed up for 12x12 (Many thanks to Julie Hedlund for founding this!)
- Started #52haiku on Twitter and would love to see you participate!
- Worked on this website and blog 🙂
- Bought a book called HOW TO DRAW ALMOST EVERY DAY by Chika Miyata and a sketch book to go with it
- Bought an "ugly sketchbook" to sketch picture book ideas (inspired by a Story Storm post)
- Made it a point to actually write down ideas instead of telling myself I'd remember them later
- Bought a new writing planner from Michael's to keep track of writing goals, ideas, and accomplishments
- Bought a small notebook for my purse to keep track of ideas on the go
- Congratulated myself on another rejection (because I'm one more "no" closer to my "yes!")
- Read lots of books with my kids, and a few just for me, too
Wow--I'm really happy with this list! So many of my lists are filled with chores I have to do. It feels great to write a list of things I've already done. I highly recommend it. I bet you've accomplished more than you realize. And even if you haven't, it's not too late to start. We're beginning a new month, which means another new beginning. So grab a notebook, and start keeping track of all the things you do that bring you joy.
