Weather’s Trick, Witch’s Treat
Abby N. Wooldridge
One dark Halloween, the wind stole her hat.
The storm broke her broom and frightened her cat.
Rain splashed her cauldron and spilled all her brew--
soaked her glow-in-the-dark socks and new shoes.
She picked up her wand and uttered some spells.
Her cottage soon filled with wonderful smells.
The potion she made--this magical stew--
chased goosebumps away and calmed her cat Boo.
Without her black hat, she reached for a hoodie--
warm cozy hands, pockets of goodies.
Tricks from the weather she turned into treats.
The witch grabbed her spoon and sat down to eat.
This is my 96 word entry for Susaanna Leonard Hill's 11th Annual #Halloweensie contest.
The rules? Write a 100 word or less Halloween story for kids 12 and under using any version of these three words: "glow-in-the-dark," "goosebumps," and "goodies."
Many thanks to Susanna for creating such a fun contest and to all the prize donors for their generosity!
